Donate your art to the Peacetober auction

Hi Reader,

As our Peacetober art-ivism challenge draws to a close, our hearts are full. So many people created moving and deeply meaningful drawings, paintings, poems, collages, crafts, and more for our daily prompts.

Especially in a time when some assume that the "ceasefire" means things are fine in Gaza, your art is a powerful reminder of the need to speak truth and show continuing support and solidarity with our 25 families.

I'll share some of the art below, but first, let's talk about our upcoming Peacetober auction!

Donate items to the Peacetober auction

Last year our Peactober auction raised $10,000 and it was the first time we were able to make a significant contribution to each of our 25 families at the same time.

From now until November 5th, you can fill out this google form to donate your:

  • physical artwork or crafted item (art prints, original painted items, knitted and stitched items, jewelry, mugs, magnets, special art commissions, etc.)
  • digital art downloads (Peacetober art that you created digitally, printable coloring pages, poems, custom digital art, etc.)
  • online services such as courses or consultations (art classes, Procreate lessons, art portfolio critiques, ask me anything Zoom sessions, etc.)
  • an in-person service or event (similar to online offerings but done in a specific community).

How it works: Coffees for Gaza handles the auction site. The auction will be open from November 10 - 13. Auction proceeds will be divided among the 25 families are in relationship with.

When you fill out the auction donation form, you'll see that you can choose to only offer shipping within your country, or you can ship worldwide. (Keep in mind that international shipping costs can be high for larger items.)

Once the auction ends, we'll inform you of who was the highest bidder on your item. You'll be responsible for the cost of shipping the item (if it's a physical item) or delivering it digitally.

Got questions about donating items to the auction? Reply to this email and I'll get back to you.

The auction is our biggest opportunity of the year to financially support our families. We hope you'll participate in whatever way works for you!

Peacetober art to add some inspiration to your day

We probably don't say it often enough, but THANK YOU for being part of our community. Your emotional, financial, and artistic support of families in Gaza means the world. We hope you'll take encouragement from the Peacetober art, knowing that you are not alone in crying, raging, dreaming, creating, working, and hoping for a just and peaceful future for the people of Gaza.

Hi Reader, When I first "met" Nourhan's family, it was through an Instagram video of her daughter Najat, then 4 years old, enthusiastically cooking in their tent. She had such a sweet and hopeful spirit, despite all the trauma that she, her mother, and her little brother Mohammed had been through. Over the last two years, I've lost count of how many times Nourhan and her children were displaced. They had several brushes with violence that were incredibly close calls. Through it all, Nourhan...

Hi Reader, Often in our newsletter I share with you the hardships that our families are facing in Gaza. Those hardships are still very much present, but today I want to offer a roundup of good news from our families and volunteers. Together, as a collective, we are making an impact. Take a moment to celebrate with us the following good news! Welcome baby Rayan! 👶🏽Oday and Rawan recently welcomed their second child, baby Rayan, into the world! Mom, Dad, and big brother Yaman are so proud. If...

Hi Reader, Today I'd like to tell you more about one of our 25 families: Fadi, his wife Alaa, and their three daughters: Danya (age 13), Kinda (age 10), and Leen (age 7.) Fadi and Alaa often call the girls their "flowers." The family's original home is in Gaza City, and it was destroyed in the early days of the war. Fadi worked for a large bank as a International Investment Consultant. Before the genocide began, Alaa was hoping to open a shop. During the war, they were displaced multiple...
