Hi Reader, We have a lot of news in this email update:
1) Meet Salam and Mohammed's family Salam and Mohammed recently joined our list of families who are in the most urgent need and have completely exhausted their savings. They are currently completely reliant on our donor community for food and other essentials. Salam graduated in 2022 with a degree from the best university in Gaza and her husband was a broadcaster. Before the war, Salam was pregnant with her second child and excited for the birth of her baby boy. They enjoyed a stable and happy life until everything suddenly changed. With their two young children (Noor, aged 4 and Said, aged 2), they are staying in an extremely cold building that is slated for demolition (pictured above), and they don't own a tent. They also needed a large amount of money for emergency dental care and have had to choose between that and essentials. Salam recently enrolled the children in school and also needs funds for tuition and supplies.
Note: Although this family's fundraiser is in GBP, if you click on the donate button you'll see that you have the option to give in several different currencies. 2) Winter flooding and cold destroyed several families' belongings Winter in Gaza brings not only cold weather that families must face in tents and damaged buildings. It also frequently brings torrential rains. A couple of weeks ago, flooding destroyed the belongings of many of our families. The flood water was also contaminated with sewage and poses significant health risks such as hepatitis and other communicable diseases. Many of you supported Adbullah in evacuating from Gaza City after their home was bombed and a wall collapsed on his young son Amir. Abdullah has diabetes and other complex chronic health conditions. He and his wife Haneen and their 4 children barely have enough support to purchase food, let alone life sustaining medication. Abdullah and Haneen's tent was recently flooded and the belongings they'd only recently purchased were soaked. He is too sick to do anything to repair the tent or salvage his belongings, and his tent is not sufficient to keep the rain out. The family needs winter clothes, blankets, tarps, and urgently need reliable and consistent donors to help stabilize providing for his and his family's basic needs including his required medication. >>Donate to Abdullah and Haneen (click on the campaign's donate button to see a variety of currency options)>> Nourhan and her two young children Najat (age 5) and Mohammed (age 3) have been displaced more times than we can count, having to replace their belongings each time. The family's belongings were submerged when their tent was flooded, and all of their food was spoiled. It had previously taken months of fundraising to replace their belongings and Nourhan once again finds herself being forced to start over. They need new mattresses, bedding, and other basics. >>Donate to Nourhan (donations can be made in Euros or USD)<< Tahani and her husband Mohammed have four teenage children (Munther, Jana, Hala, and Ezz). Their home was destroyed early in the war. They have been living in a tent and have been displaced many times. Tahani's family is completely reliant on our donor community for day to day items like food. Many of the family's belongings, including their bedding, were ruined in the recent flooding. >>Donate to Tahani (donations can be made in Swedish krona or USD)<< 3) Honor a loved one with this beautiful holiday card when you give to a CFG family Have you considered making a gift to one of our Coffees for Gaza families in honor of a friend or family member? Billy Ruffian has designed a beautiful holiday card that you can print out to notify them of your gift. Simply make a donation to any of our families. You can choose one of the families listed above, or find the fundraising campaigns here for all of the families we are in relationship with. Then, reply to this email letting me know you've made a gift and I'll email you the printable card. 4) A virtual baby shower for Oday and Rawan Pediatric dentists Oday and Rawan welcomed their first baby Yaman (pictured here) during the genocide, and Yaman will become a big brother any day now! Coffees for Gaza volunteer Elisabeth Sophia is organizing a virtual baby shower to help the family with the baby clothes, nappies, and other essentials to surround him with love and warmth. >>Take part in the baby shower for Oday and Rawan's bundle of joy!<< 5) Attention monthly donors on Open Collective: action needed For more than a year, Coffees for Gaza superstar volunteer Billy Ruffian has managed our monthly giving community on Open Collective. Collecting donations and allocating them among urgent needs families has taken up a huge amount of time for Billy and the other handful of volunteers who help with this task. We now need to move to a more sustainable donation system. You can get all the details on why we are making this change here. If you currently have an Open Collective monthly subscription, or if you are interested in providing one of our families with a monthly donation, please fill out this Family Sponsorship form. We will match you with a family whose fundraising campaign (i.e. GoFundMe, Chuffed, etc) is carried out in your local currency, along with instructions about how to set up a monthly gift directly to their campaign. You can then cancel your monthly donation on Coffees for Gaza's Open Collective. Open Collective has instructions on how to cancel a donation here. Thank you for your flexibility as we make this shift, which we hope will make our work more sustainable both for our volunteers and our families. Need help making this transition? Hit reply and let me know. With love and solidarity, Rebekah Gienapp and the Coffees for Gaza team Invite a friend to subscribe | Coffees for Gaza on Instagram | Family Sponsor Program |

Hi Reader, When I first "met" Nourhan's family, it was through an Instagram video of her daughter Najat, then 4 years old, enthusiastically cooking in their tent. She had such a sweet and hopeful spirit, despite all the trauma that she, her mother, and her little brother Mohammed had been through. Over the last two years, I've lost count of how many times Nourhan and her children were displaced. They had several brushes with violence that were incredibly close calls. Through it all, Nourhan...

Hi Reader, Today I'd like to tell you more about one of our 25 families: Fadi, his wife Alaa, and their three daughters: Danya (age 13), Kinda (age 10), and Leen (age 7.) Fadi and Alaa often call the girls their "flowers." The family's original home is in Gaza City, and it was destroyed in the early days of the war. Fadi worked for a large bank as a International Investment Consultant. Before the genocide began, Alaa was hoping to open a shop. During the war, they were displaced multiple...
