Hi Reader, First I'd like to say THANK YOU to each of you who's made a gift to our new Emergency Fund or signed up for our monthly Family Sponsor Program. Your support of our families means the world to them, both at a practical, financial level and at an emotional one. It's not easy to keep your heart open to the suffering in our world, especially when it seems like those in power care so little about the harm they are causing. I hope you'll take encouragement from this art that Janna Dwyer recently shared: Today, I want to bring your attention to two of our families who especially need emergency funds. Abdullah needs immediate heart surgery As many of you know Abdullah Ziad's health is extremely fragile, and he has been growing dangerously weak over the past few months. He needs immediate surgery to place a stent in his heart. Abdullah's heart condition is impacted by his diabetes. He can't consistently afford insulin, which has had disastrous effects on his health. Abdullah needs to raise $4,000 USD as soon as possible, which includes:
You can help by donating directly to Abdullah's Chuffed campaign or by donating to the Coffees for Gaza Emergency Fund.
Anas currently has no funds to care for his siblings and parents Anas is 23 years old and trained to be an engineer before the genocide began. Now, at such a young age, he supports a large number of younger siblings as well as his parents. Before the war, Anas and his father had just built a beautiful new home. They hadn't had a chance to move into it before it was heavily damaged by bombings and fire. They lived in a tent for two years. Now, as you can see in this video Anas posted, they are trying to make their home livable while also sheltering there. This is an incredibly difficult task which involves lots of shoveling rubble, plus more complex repairs. Anas isn't able to spend much time promoting his family's fundraising campaign online, so he has struggled for the past 2 years to raise enough for their basic needs. Currently, they have exhausted all their funds and need our support to purchase food, basic supplies, and make their home livable. You can help by donating directly to Anas' fundraiser or by donating to the Coffees for Gaza Emergency Fund. Hi Reader, As Coffees for Gaza turns 2 (more on that below), we have a urgent request from Oday and Rawan's family. Their 5 month-old-son Rayan has developed an amoebic parasite due to tainted water. As you know, there is no real sanitation available in Gaza. Rawan and Oday were devastated to learn that Rayan has been infected, because their toddler Yaman also had the same infection as an infant. This is a very dangerous condition and they need to get treatment for Rayan as soon as possible....
Hi Reader, It's been a while since we've updated you about how our transition to the Family Sponsor Program is going. If this is the first time you're hearing of the Family Sponsor Program, these are donors who sign up give $5 a month (or more) to a particular Coffees for Gaza family through the family's fundraising link on Chuffed or GoFundMe. We are so thankful to the 82 people so far who have signed up to donate approximately 1300 Great British Pounds per month. These family sponsors have...
