I'm excited to share that the prompts for our 2026 Peacetober artivism challenge are now available! You'll find them at the end of this email, along with basic info about Peacetober for those who are new to our community.

Urgent needs for Abdullah, Qosay, and Tahani

But first, several of our families are facing urgent situations that they need to quickly raise money for.

We're asking if you can make a donation of any size to our Emergency Fund so that we can assist as many of them as possible. (Of course, if you have an ongoing relationship with one of these families and would like to donate directly to them, that's wonderful as well.)

​Abdullah has a heart condition and is a fragile diabetic; insulin is very difficult to find in Gaza and when it's available it's very expensive. He was extremely ill for several months and was no longer able to post fundraising requests on his Instagram account for his family, which includes his wife Haneen and their four sons. During that period he lost a number of financial supporters.

Abdullah needs to quickly raise $300 for life-saving heart medication. This is in addition to funds needed for insulin (if it can be found) and essentials for the family.

​Qusay Hany is a deeply generous person who rarely asks Coffees for Gaza for help. He cares for his mother, who has a spinal injury that will only be able to be fully treated if she can be evacuated out of Gaza.

Qusay and his mother are currently facing eviction from the place they've been living. In addition to rent, he also needs to quickly raise funds for her medication. They need to quickly raise a minimum of several hundred dollars.

In the past Qusay was able to raise funds in part by appeals he posted to Instagram, but his account has been shut down several times. In the last month, he has received only 3 contributions to his fundraising campaign.

Tahani's new tent in a safer location, which still needs a simple bathroom

Finally, we have some good news from Tahani, though she continues to need our support. Thanks in part to your generosity, Tahani, her husband Mohammed, and their four children were able to re-locate to a safer location farther from the yellow line.

Their new tent does not have a bathroom yet, and they need additional funds for the supplies required to build the simplest of bathrooms.

All of us who are Coffees for Gaza volunteers are continually amazed by our 25 families' resilience through such terrible circumstances. As we approach the 3 year anniversary of the start of the genocide, they are asking us to not forget them.

Prepare for Peacetober 2026! Daily artivism prompts now available

This October, Coffees for Gaza will hold our third annual Peacetober artivism challenge. This is our biggest community event of the year, bringing together volunteers, supporters, and newcomers who take part in a month of art, advocacy, solidarity, and fundraising for the 25 families CFG is in relationship with.

Throughout October, you're invited to join us in making all sorts of art - paintings, sketches, illustrations, embroidery, fiber arts, tatreez, sculptures, poetry, song, and more based on daily prompts. All are invited to donate their artworks to an fundraising auction to be held in November.

You don't need to a "professional" artist or artisan to participate, and we've also had people of all ages (including little ones) join the challenge. You can make something in response to 1 prompt, a few of the prompts, or all 31!

This is our 3rd Peacetober, and we are both heartbroken by its necessity but heartened by our community. Palestine deserves to be free, and we will not stop, we will not forget, we will not give up on the rights of Palestinians to a life of peace and liberation.
