Peacetober art to lift your spirit

Hi Reader, We have so much amazing Peacetober art to share in this edition of the newsletter, but first I want to share an update and request for help from Oday and Rawan for their baby Rayan and toddler Yaman.. Oday and Rawan need our support to continue treating baby Rayan's parasites In May, we shared that Rawan and Oday's baby Rayan had become sick with the same amoebic parasite that his big brother Yaman battled when he was an infant. Many of you generously donated to them, making it possible for Rayan to start treatment. Unfortunately the treatment needed for the parasites has a long course. Rayan has not been gaining weight like he should be. Oday and Rawan need donations to afford the anti-parasite medication, as well as diapers and formula, plus food and basic supplies for the whole family. This young family of four has been displaced countless times across North Gaza. Often, they are separated so that Oday can also care for his disabled brother, sister-in-law, and 71-year-old mother. Oday also has medical needs that likely can only be properly evaluated and treated outside of the Gaza Strip. The burden the family carries is immeasurable—and yet they continue to help others whenever they can. Both Oday and Rawan are pediatric dentists. During the first year of the war they operated a free pediatric dental tent—funding it with whatever donations they could raise—until another forced displacement forced them to close. Their young children need consistent care, support, proper nutrition and supplies, and Oday’s relatives rely on his ability to help them. Such a loving, giving and generous family deserve everything they need to survive in the current conditions and build a future for their family. Anything that you can donate, whether it's the cost of one takeout coffee or several, will help Oday and Rawan. You can donate directly to Oday and Rawan's GoFundMe here. (The campaign is in Euros. If you prefer, you can donate to the Coffees for Gaza Emergency Fund. We allocate these funds every few weeks to whichever of our urgent needs families has the greatest need and the most difficulty raising funds on their own. Here's a peek of the Peacetober art our amazing community is creating! Our 3rd annual Peacetober artivism challenge - our biggest community event of the year - is underway and will continue all October long, followed by our annual auction for our families. The stunning art you have created has brought tears to our eyes more than once. You can view the hundreds of art pieces that have already been created on our Instagram account, and we'll share a few below as well. We're just getting started, and if you are an artist, crafter, book reviewer, or writer of any kind we'd love for you to join in!
