An update on Abdullah's health

Hi Reader,

If you've been part of the Coffees for Gaza community for a while, you've probably heard us talk about Abdullah Ziad's family.

While all 25 of the families we're in relationship with have endured trauma during the genocide, the amount of pain and danger that Abdullah has experienced is hard to wrap our minds and hearts around.

Abdullah and his wife Haneen have four young children: Mohammed, Ziad, Omar and Amir. Abdullah has complex health conditions including diabetes that he can not get adequate treatment for unless he can evacuate. He also survived a serious shrapnel wound to his chest that narrowly missed his heart.

Their youngest son Omar has bronchial asthma. Their 5 year old Amir was injured in the fall of 2025 when their home was destroyed and a wall fell on him; he had to stay in the hospital for weeks.

In early October, with your help, the Ziads were able to flee Gaza City as the intense bombings and tanks moved towards to their neighborhood. They have been living in a tent since that time.

This winter the family's tent has flooded repeatedly, destroying their belongings. The cold and wet have contributed to Abdullah's health becoming even more fragile, and he hasn't been able to make needed repairs to their tent.

Medications have been incredibly hard and exorbitantly expensive to find during the genocide, and more often than not Abdullah is deprived of life-sustaining medication. This means that Abdullah’s health has drastically declined over the past two years.

Abdullah needs heart surgery to place a stent that will support one of his arteries.

He is now so ill that he can't move on his own and can hardly communicate.

That also means that Abdullah hasn't been able to play an active role in fundraising on social media for his family, and donations to his campaign have declined. The family is struggling to meet their basic needs for food and medicine, let alone put funds toward the stent surgery that he needs.

Here are three ways that you can support Abdullah and his family as they try to find stability:

1️⃣ Donate to Abdullah's Chuffed campaign. You can make a one-time gift of any size to help.

If you're not already supporting another one of our families with a monthly gift, please consider becoming a monthly donor to Abdullah's campaign.

Note: Abdullah's campaign is in Euros, but after you click on the "donate now" button, you can choose another currency to donate in.

2️⃣ Spread the word about Abdullah's family by creating a social media post, emailing, or texting your friends. If you need photos or other info, just hit reply and ask.

3️⃣ Share the recent video that Sarah Reyes created for Abdullah on Instagram. When sharing to your stories, it's incredibly helpful if you include the link to Abdullah's campaign.

We want to thank our community for all you've done to help Abdullah, Haneen, and their children find some measure of safety in the past year. Together, we can continue to show the Ziad family that they are not alone.

With love and solidarity,

Rebekah Gienapp and the Coffees for Gaza team

Hi Reader, Fadi cares for so many family members, and he does everything he can to avoid asking for help. He and his family need our care. What if we could show even a fraction of the generosity to him that he share with the people around him? I've shared before that Fadi and his wife have three beautiful daughters, who he calls their "flowers." But Fadi also supports his elderly parents and his younger sister. Alaa, Fadi and their three daughters: Danya, Kinda, and Leen The family has long...

Hi Reader, Tahani, Mohammed, and their four children urgently need your support. They have exhausted all their funds and food. As you can see below, a recent storm badly damaged their already battered tent. The streets near their tent regularly collect sewage-infested water, putting them at risk of serious illness. Various family members have already fallen ill several times. Tahani also wants to pass along her gratitude to Coffees for Gaza supporters like you for your past generosity. You...

Hi Reader, On Friday, families across Gaza were able to celebrate Eid al-Fitr for the first time since the genocide began. While all of the 25 families we're in relationship with still face incredibly harsh living conditions, it has been wonderful to see the joy and beauty in their holiday pictures and messages. On behalf of our families, we'd like to share thanks and appreciation for all the emotional and financial support you have offered. Every dollar you've donated, every post or email...
