Our families' 1st Eid celebration in 3 years

Hi Reader,

On Friday, families across Gaza were able to celebrate Eid al-Fitr for the first time since the genocide began. While all of the 25 families we're in relationship with still face incredibly harsh living conditions, it has been wonderful to see the joy and beauty in their holiday pictures and messages.

On behalf of our families, we'd like to share thanks and appreciation for all the emotional and financial support you have offered. Every dollar you've donated, every post or email you've shared, every piece of art you've created, every time you've expressed your solidarity with the people of Gaza - it has truly made a difference.

Basel with his daughters

Basel shared on his Instagram:

"No home, no big celebrations — just a simple moment inside a tent, with my daughters by my side.
But still, we smiled.
Still, we dressed up.
Still, we tried to create joy in the smallest ways possible.

Lara and Mira don’t see everything we’ve lost —
they see love, laughter, and the effort we make to give them a moment of happiness.
And maybe that’s what Eid truly means…
not what we have, but what we hold onto despite everything.

Eid Mubarak from me and my girls.
May next Eid be kinder, safer, and full of the life we dream of."

Nourhan's children Najat and Muhammad suffered from severe chest congestion that required medical treatment in the days before Eid. But on the holiday, they were all smiles, enjoying their new clothes and Nourhan's delicious homemade cookies.

Nosiba shared pictures of her children wearing their new clothes, saying "you don't know how happy they felt," and thanking those who've given to her campaign.

This was the first time Ameera's 3 year old son Mahmoud experienced Eid. He was so excited to receive a small bag to put his coins and chocolates in.

Sadly, some of our families did not have enough funds to purchase small gifts or treats for their children. One mother shared that "my heart aches when I see everyone happy, buying clothes and toys for their children, while I can only watch them without being able to do the same."

Abdullah's family shared this video of their boys in the days just before Eid, asking for support to purchase everyday basics and pay for the life-saving heart surgery Abdullah needs.

There are two ways to support our families who are in the most urgent need:

For as little as $5 a month, Family Sponsors offer stability and solidarity to our families who have the greatest need.

Your gift to the Emergency Fund will be passed along to a family who has exhausted their funds and need immediate help with food, medical care, and other basic necessities.

With love and solidarity,

Rebekah Gienapp and the Coffees for Gaza team

Hi Reader, As Coffees for Gaza turns 2 (more on that below), we have a urgent request from Oday and Rawan's family. Their 5 month-old-son Rayan has developed an amoebic parasite due to tainted water. As you know, there is no real sanitation available in Gaza. Rawan and Oday were devastated to learn that Rayan has been infected, because their toddler Yaman also had the same infection as an infant. This is a very dangerous condition and they need to get treatment for Rayan as soon as possible....

Hi Reader, It's been a while since we've updated you about how our transition to the Family Sponsor Program is going. If this is the first time you're hearing of the Family Sponsor Program, these are donors who sign up give $5 a month (or more) to a particular Coffees for Gaza family through the family's fundraising link on Chuffed or GoFundMe. We are so thankful to the 82 people so far who have signed up to donate approximately 1300 Great British Pounds per month. These family sponsors have...
